The television channel is from the publisher of Malayala Manorama, the most circulated newspaper in Malayalam, and Vanitha, the largest regional language magazine in India by circulation. The group also has a news channel titled Manorama News TV.

The channel was launched on 31 October 2011 at 6.30 PM. In 2015, the channel launched its High Definition channel - Mazhavil Manorama HD.
